Sea Isle City Beach Patrol's Junior Lifeguard Program for the summer of 2021, open to male and female applicants ages 14 to 17, will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from July 22 through August 10. Times for the program, which takes place at 44th Street on the beach, are from 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Selected junior guards will participate in a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon rowing program. Weather postponements will be announced by 9:45 AM on the beach patrol's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Enrollment in the program is limited to the first 40 applicants.
The program will introduce basic lifesaving skills and rescue techniques as an educational and physical training foundation for prospective beach patrol employees. Beach patrol instructors will apply principles of surf bashing, swimming, running, paddling, and ocean rowing to techniques of water rescue and beach management appropriate to age and developing skill. Junior lifeguards developing through the program to the advanced level who are sixteen years of age or older may be selected for employment with the beach patrol upon graduating the program in August.
All junior guards should bring a towel, running shoes, sunblock, liquids to stay properly hydrated, and needed medications.
A fee of twenty-five dollars per applicant is necessary to help defray the cost of pool rentals, the junior lifeguard uniform shirts distributed to each participant, and the end of the program barbeque. The fee is due when the application form is submitted. Checks should be made payable to Sea Isle City Beach Patrol.
A registration form can be downloaded by clicking here. Mail (do not hand deliver) registration form to Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, 233 JFK Boulevard, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243.
