Polar Bear Weekend

POLAR BEAR WEEKEND

PLEASE JOIN US WE JUMP-START THE 2019 SEASON DURING POLAR BEAR WEEKEND, FEBRUARY 15-17

Polar Bear Weekend events will begin on Friday, February 16, with the crowning of the 2019 Polar Bear Royal Family.  The Prince and Princess Contest (for ages 12-16) will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the King and Queen Contest (for ages 21 and over) is 9:00 p.m. at LaCosta Complex, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue. On Saturday, February 16, the Polar Bear Plunge Costume Contest will start at 12:00 noon at LaCosta Complex, followed by the Plunge at 2:00 p.m. on the JFK Boulevard Beach. To enter the Costume Contest or register to take the Plunge, visit www.lacosta-seaisle.com or phone (609) 263-3611.  Come early, polar bears don’t stay in the ocean very long!

Afterwards, don’t miss the Post-Plunge Party at 2:30 p.m. and the Costume Contest Awards Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. back at LaCosta.

On Sunday, February 17, Mike’s Seafood will sponsor a 5K Run and 1.5-Mile Fun Walk for Autism at 12:00 noon on the Promenade. Registration will take place at 9:00 a.m. at LaCosta.  You can also pre-register by visiting www.polarbearrunwalkforautism.com or phoning (609) 602-5734.

Date and Time:

Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. (service is suspended on Landis Avenue from JFK Blvd. to 29th Street from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Route:

29th to 94th Street, Northbound and Southbound on Landis Avenue.  Just flag the driver.  There will be no Strathmere service this weekend.

Fee:

$2.00 ride before 11:00 p.m. (each way) and $4.00 ride after 11:00 p.m. (each way).  Children five years and younger sitting on an adult’s lap can ride free.

All legal parking spaces are free during the winter months
