This presentation will provide a history of the March 1962 Storm, and how Sea isle City was virtually destroyed over the course of the three-day event. The program will feature survivors relating their individual stories regarding the Storm. These oral histories will be augmented by a Power Point presentation containing many photos of the event and its aftermath.
This event is being presented by The Sea isle City Historical Museum. Leading the discussion will be Dr. Joseph A. LaRosa, Jr., a Storm survivor and the author of two books on the catastrophe - Our Prefect Storm: A History of the March 1962 Storm that Devastated Sea Isle City, and Storm Stories, a collection of oral histories from Storm survivors. Survivors will also relate their personal stories and assist with the presentation.
A brief history of Sea Isle City leading up the Storm will be provided, along with how through an indomitable spirit and the extreme self-reliance of the residents, the town was rebuilt.
The event will provide a window into this weather calamity, and the ability to speak with Storm survivors during a question and answer session at the presentation’s conclusion.
